Re: white corn meal conversion
The Malt I used was a 2 row barley from premium malting. I have always used this 2 row for my conversion and never had a problem. The iodine test does turn darker than its original color. What I have always had when the conversion is done is what I call {falling} the grains have separated and fell b...

I started on Saturday with 50 lbs of white corn grits, 40 gallons of water. Boiled the water dropped in the corn grits slowly. I simmered the mash for about 2 hours and it was sticky so I through in some malted barley and some gluc to loosen things up. I let it drop to 145 degrees I then added 7 lbs...

Hello: I just got done with a spirit run of UJSSM. I collected everything from 80-60. I let it air out for two days. I then cut it with distilled water from the ole wal-mart. I cut it to 90 proof. I did add the water to the likker. It is cloudy, will this eventually go way. Or should I re run this b...

Re: Aeration of mash
Maybe I did not word that right. I am on my 12th generation of UJSSM. I have only been doing 5 gallon washes at a time. I now have a 55 gallon food grade drum and I am doing my first 25 gallon wash in this. I just switched to a keg still so I can do around 13 gallons at a time. This is some good dri...

Aeration of mash
Is there any benefit to about half way through fermintation aerating your wash or just leave it alone. I have started doing a 25 gallon 12 generation UJSSM wash. I aerate with a drill motor and a grout paddle at the start, also have a internal heater keeping it @ 75-80 degrees. Thanks

Yes: I read the first post, but a later post talked about removing the spent grain and I do not know what that means. Since this thread has evolved since the first post, I just wanted to make sure I have not missed or not understood anything. Thanks for your help

When you ferment the next generation do you start with all new sweet feed and about 25% back set, or just 25% of the back set and the same grain. Thank you
