Re: Mushroom Brandy
I did a quick google search. It seems mushroom wine is not that uncommon. Below is what one person wrote on his site: "Mushroom Wine •What? A mushroom wine. Brilliant clear yellow. It tastes almost like a conventional white wine made from grapes. •How? Cook & liquidise 1 kg of normal edible...

"Many of my friends don’t think it is illegal..." I am amazed at the number of people in my part of the county that think it is legal, and that includes lawmen. The other day a Texas State Game Warden was visiting, a good friend through an organization we both belong. I had a batch of wine...

Never, never underestimate one of those babies. I did. Big mistake. I live in East Texas about 150 inland from the Gulf, and never worried before because they usually played out by the time they got here. However, Rita, I believe the name was did not cooperate. She put two trees on my house. Not maj...

Oh, it is hell to be retired so you don't have to get out in this mess. Cry your hearts out my distilling friends.
Before you all jump on me like a hen on a June bug let me say I am just teasing, and hope to heck that it cools off soon for you fellows that have to get out in it.

The good news for me is that I live on the south end of Toledo Bend Reservoir. I have water front with my own launch place and a boat house that is in bad shape but usable. My boat is a G3, perfect for me. The bad news is that the water level is so low I cannot launch my boat here, and cannot use my...

I like "stone" better than "pit". It is more versatile. A person can be stone dead, stone deaf, or a stone's throw away.

Rad, this is my last post on this thread. There are NO secrets anymore. The handshakes, etc. are all on the Internet. If you want to find out what they are, search. All of the other stuff you mention is there too. Just search and read. We normally do not respond to people like you. Past experience (...

Gosh Rad, use your own advice and it would not be. Read, read, and read. Use google, books from the library, and even special programs on tv.

Rad, I might add to my post just above that I continually run Norton AntiVirus in the background, and I try to run at least once a week my Defraggler, SuperAntiSpyware, CCleaner, and Malwarebytes' AntiMalware programs. I just ran all except the Defraggler program, and I had to log in to HD to reply....

I recently updated to IE 9. My bookmark is http://homedistiller.org/forum/index.php. I had not noticed, but now after I have read this thread, I don't think I have had to log on one time. Maybe the first time after I updated. I don't remember.

netexauto, there are several, maybe a dozen or more Texans on this forum, and a few from East Texas. I'm in the Jasper area. However, as you know when you say East Texas you are talking about an area larger than a lot of the states. I quit distilling about a year ago, and have been making wine since...

There are many other comparisons, but I will quit there. Too old to fly, and too old to lift supers and mess around with bees. Kin people more or les...

My favorite way with venison is to butcher my own deer, let it stay in the freezer from two to six weeks, and then salt. pepper and fry. No other doctoring! Oh, roasts and other cuts are prepared differently. However, as I stated above this meat is old with a lot of off tastes. I suspect the meat pr...

Thanks Larry. I do have on hand a couple or three dry rubs, one of which is Gordon's Grub Rub which I like. I grilled some tenderized venison cutlets that had been marinated all night in a 1:1:1 mixture of Italian Dressing, Soy Sauce, and Worcestershire Sauce. First time for me using this mixture. rubber duck , my nephew and I just got in from a long trip across Texas. On the way home we passed one of those truck "weigh stations". I guess there were about 20 trucks there with some pulling out and others pulling in. Question 1: Do the troopers weigh ALL trucks, or do they wave on th...

The pocket 380 is not a bad pistol for self defense. My Kahr p380 shooting FMJ Remington rounds will put the bullet through a 2X4 at 20 ft or more. I have only tested at 20 ft. I definitely do not want anyone to be shooting at me with that round.
