Finally got my Boka built
Hey guys, As per usual it’s been a while since I was last on here but with the lockdown and social distancing going on I've had a bit of time to get my setup built. I'll attach (hopefully) some pictures to this post for you to see. The boiler is a 50L keg fitted with dual heating elements; a 2400wat...

Re: 2" pot column to 1/2" liebig transition
Hey mate, You've raised an excellent point about doing stripping runs to put through the boka. I have already thought about this and I plan on building a shotgun condenser for doing stripping runs in the keg. I'm just trying to work out if I’ll run with a 2" shotgun or a 3". I'll most like...

Re: 2" pot column to 1/2" liebig transition
That’s a good point about potentially upgrading the size of the condenser down the track. Thanks for bringing that up

Also, if you ever decide you want a larger vapor path, the change will be be easier/cheaper.

Re: 2" pot column to 1/2" liebig transition
Hi mate, Thanks for posting the link to your thread. Everything that still stirrins said does make sense so I think i will still to the 2" as far as possible. I was thinking about using a brass union but it’s easy for me to tig/solder copper/stainless so less brain strain worrying about the bra...

Re: 2" pot column to 1/2" liebig transition
Hey mate, Price wise for the parts there’s not much difference between the difference sizes when you source them directly from china. And let’s face it we're not in his hobby to make bulk/cheap product anyway. I was thinking the same regarding the greater strength using the 2" copper as far as ...

2" pot column to 1/2" liebig transition
Hey guys, It’s been a while since I've been on here as I've been out of the hobby for a bit. It’s time to get back into it though so I'm in the process of gathering more bits and building a few different stills. The first one I am working on is a small (25L) pot still to be used for experimenting wi...

Visiting NZ
I'll be making my way to Christchurch in a weeks time and seeing that stilling is legal there I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to show me their set ups? Particularly anyone that makes rum that could show me a few things
So would anyone be interested?
Thanks

Re: radiator for cooling water
Sorry to bring up and old thread, but I thought I might add a better idea here. I reckon auto radiators are too big and bulky and the inlet/outlet require too much stuffing around to attach your cooling lines to. What I have been using is an old heater box out of a car. This has a small radiator and...

For neutral spirit you don't want to be keeping the tails. And the reason the spirit went cloudy when you diluted it is because of those tails. Carbon filtering just did a half arsed job of removing the off tastes and smells. Read the following thread. Good info on how to make cuts there. http://hom...
