Well aint it lucky you are making your own spirits then? :D  :D

The M.I.L used some 40% neutral and soaked some plums for 3 months,i think she added 2 cups of sugar to the top the sealed and forgot about it.I tried some of it once it was strained off.Very nice, very sweet, maybe less sugar next time, and the plums can then be used for something else after. I done o...

Re: My First Run Ever...

Sounds like you enjoyed yourself, glad to hear. Using the turbo yeast i would say yes to carbon cleaning up the diluted spirit,I guess you could always dilute and run through the still again later on,but unsure wether you would still need to filter. Alternatively, you could try a recipe from the tried...

Has been downgraded to 7.1 now, thats still a big quake.33km deep.Apparently felt as far north as New Plymouth.Lots and lots of damage mainly to alot of old buildings, cracks in roads, damage to vehicles etc.Reports of some flattened buildings closer to the epicentre though.

On a 25L batch,5kg sugar, and starting SG of 1070,5 days sees it ferment out to 0980.Then i rack into a spare fermenter, then its a week before i put it into the still.no worries.

Re: Birdwatchers sugar wash recipe

I usually get 3x25L washes goin one after the other, one each week.
A week to ferment,Rack,a week to clear, then strip run each wash.
Then do a spirit run of 20L of 40% low wines once i have enough.Best neutral i get.

In a 25L wash i try to go for a SG of 1075.5kg of sugar gets this spot on.
