Re: Room temperature to ferment with bakers yeast

I was told that a slow fermentation for beer makes a better beer. Don’t know for sure if that applies for a wash for making spirits, but I think it dose. Supposedly, a slow fermentation makes better alcohol.

Re: Everything you need to know about oak alternatives.

And other option that I was looking at was getting a BBQ grilling plank. There made to cook food on. I could just get one of these, cut it up in small cubs and toast them in the oven for 3hr at 200 c. It would be a lot cheaper that getting the oak at the brew store. The only thing that concerns me i...

Re: Birdwatchers sugar wash recipe

Hi … I have a question on the birdwatchers recipe . I did one 23L batch of birdwatchers wash. The wash temp was around 26 to 27c during the fermentation. The initial sg was 1.090. I let it ferment for 10 day’s and now the sg is 1.002. Is the fermentation complete? According to the recipe my final sg...

Room temperature to ferment with bakers yeast

I’m planning on making a birdwatchers wash. I plan on using Fleischmann's Yeast. I will be using 5 gallon “25 L” fermenter. I know that the starting temp of the wash is suppose to be 30c. My question is what should my ROOM temperature be? I know that when the fermentation starts, the temp of the was...

Re: The next morning, I had no headache???

Over all, where I’m form, the carbon is not that expensive. The Liquid carbon is about $4 per pack. That will do one 25L bucket fermenter. And the dry carbon will filter about 25L after distillation. That cost me about $1 per filtration. I can buy 1 big bag of carbon 500g for about $8. Total cost fo...

Re: The next morning, I had no headache???

Fist I would like to mention that when I was camping, I was drinking 750ml bottles. Second, the wife wasn’t there… lol Sudsy had mention Turbo Yeast, so I though that I would post what I used and how I did it. I use Turbo Yeast classic. The next morning, I had no headache???

I’m still new at distilling, just did one batch a few months ago. One thing that I noticed is that my spirits doesn’t give me a headache. I went camping a few weeks ago and did a test on my spirits. I had 1 “store bought bottle” of rum and 3 bottles of my own distilled rum. The first day I drank the...

Re: This is my first still

If you can get hold of a keg for around $40, and spend $100-$150 more for some copper, you can build a real still which will be far superior. OD ha ha...lol. I wish that a Keg was $40. Not in Canada. I cant even buy a 24 for that price. I checked with the Liquor stores and they told me that the bre...
