Re: email from Brewhaus
Thank you for your kind words regarding my letter. I saw those small grammar issues too but wanted to post exactly what I sent to my congressman. The words accumulated in a brief wave of inspiration so it was drafted and sent in one go. As tired as I was that night I realized had I tried to edit, I...

Re: email from Brewhaus
My point about health is, if someone made it for their selves to consume, they surely would want to make it safe,. Some people don't have the common sense to do it safe. They just use what is available plastic, lead soldier, car radiators ect. Then when they do something stupid it comes back to hau...

A manufacture of stills should encourage people to buy a book of which are readily available in homebrew stores and amazon.

My point about health is, if someone made it for their selves to consume, they surely would want to make it safe, people who are in it to make money might not always care about how safe it is. Making it legal will make it safer product wise, equipment wise and operating wise.

Re: email from Brewhaus
Read the petition, there are lots of people who would try it if it were legal. Plus it would increase demand for spirits just as homebrewing did for Craft beer. Do you see any Craft brewers complaining, or winemakers complaining? Craft breweries let us have meetings at the brewery, how cool is that?

Re: email from Brewhaus
I think an important point to make for it is that, making it legal for home distillers will make it less in demand for illegal makers, thus reducing crime, bad make, and the cost of enforcement.

Re: email from Brewhaus
If you can only ferment 100 gallons (200 gallons for two adults in same house) of beer or wine. What makes you think you will be able to ferment any more then that for distilling? If they were to make it legal. This is unfortunate because some of us like to ferment at a lower ABV. And this would pu...

Re: email from Brewhaus
The law for commercial stills allows you to build your own. Since you are the builder/manufacture you would start with number one, etc, and have to register such. I don't know if their are any standards for materials. There should be for a hobbyist. You can't fix stupid but you can sure tell them wh...

Re: email from Brewhaus
Material standards are a good point Usge. We recognize that here, and try to keep bad stuff out. But since the current laws mention size and the known issue concerning the history of selling I think we will be stuck with a size to discern a hobbiest from anything other.

Re: email from Brewhaus
My point is the limit is the amount of beer or mash in gals per year. We shouldnt get hung up over boiler size. There is no limit for making beer or wine except 200 gals per year per two person household. No one needs any boiler over 26 gals imo.

Re: email from Brewhaus
So why doesnt equipment size make any difference for beer or wine? If im making beer its perfectly legal to have a 200 gal boiler for myself and my wife but illegal for spirits? Isnt the whole point of this is being able to do the same thing as beer or winemakers?

Re: email from Brewhaus
The boiler size shouldn't be an issue, the gallons of mash is the limit. 100 gals per person or 200 gals per house of two adults. There are no equipment limits for wine or beer. If you need to make more than that, you should really take a step back and enjoy other things in life.

Re: email from Brewhaus
Excellent work. The boiler capacity should be increased to 15.5 gals. Most commercial size kegs are half barrels, 15.5 gals.
