no , but I asked uncle jesse this same question under his cooked rye recipe in the tried and true and he said that it would be real thick , which makes since if you think about it. I wouldn't see any reason why it would hurt if you was using a a corn and rye bill, or a corn, barley, and rye grain bi...

Its possible, but with that thing you would get 35 -40 gallons before its cut. I can't imagine what you would do with all that, not to to mention you get caught with that and your surely getting with intent to sell.

Re: A lot of heads
I'm kinda wondering how in the hell your getting 11-12 qts off a 6 gallon run. I seen it was a collection of strip runs. But that just seems awful high to me. Specially if your still getting 50% after 7qts. Anyways I agree collect in pint jars 200-300ml lots. You can tell as your heads fade away int...

Liebig or worm
Have used a liebig on all my stills so far,but thinking of making one with a worm coil instead. So I thought I'd start a post on which you use or prefer. Thinking of using the worm coil just because its a little more traditional.

We can't use a rifle for hunting in the lower have of Michigan. So I'd have to say my two favorite "rifles" our my 12 gauge slug gun and my .54 BP. I say slug gun, because the rifle barrel you can't shoot shot out of it. I do have a couple .22's , a sks, a mak 90 aka Ak -47 only semi- auto...

I've seen a set of 3 SS pots with lids at walmart for 20 bucks. I believe it comes with a 4,3, and a 2 gallon one. I'd go that route if you are looking for something cheap. Your just asking for trouble with any other steel then stainless.

Re: simple potstill fitting question
You could you use a half inch coupler soldered to a flat piece of copper. Then you stainless screws to fasten to the lid. You could find a stainless bushing then solder a male fitting to your column and screw it to the bushing and screw the bushing to the lid. You could use a cork. Drill a hole in t...

I forgot to mention. When you run your stripped wash there is still some bad stuff in there. But when you run it the second time your pulling more of it out. Therefore you should still through out the first part. It may only be the first 75 ml this time around but as mentioned above better safe than...

Re: Methyl
If your still is 10 gallons you should be able to collect in 200ml-300ml lots. After you collect let it sit out for a day or two. You should be able to smell and most certainly be able to taste the difference between the foreshots and the heads. When the smell and taste changes which maybe from the ...

I'd have to say Black Velvet. Reason being when I was it high school the stuff was a cheap drunk. We used to buy a fifth of that stuff and a case of the Beast for a little over 10 -12 bucks The smell of the stuff now makes me sick.

I'm with joe on this one. After you air out your distillate you can definetly smell the difference between that first 200 or so and the next 200ml lot.

Re: New Easy Still with adjustable thermostat.
If the temp knob controls your heating element I would suspect it would turn off ounce it was up to the preset temp , but it should turn back on ounce the temp starts to fall to maintain the preset temp. Is the fan actually the lid? If so I would guess this is what is used as a air cooled condenser ...

Your right I didn't really think about Iowa being a huge crop producing state. I my opinion this whole ethanol thing that starting the rise in price is a bust. I was using corn for my heat. It was cheaper and more environment friendly than natural gas. Gas prices are already killing us not mention f...

Re: New Easy Still with adjustable thermostat.
I don't have one of these but seems pretty straight forward. I'm guessing the temp knob will heat your element to that temp. You'll have to play with it until you fiqure out at what temp your distillate starts to come off. I'm not sure how it cools the vapor off unless the top has some type of cooli...
