Re: Baileys Irish Cream Clone

I have made both of these and kept a year in fridge. The one Hoosier did kept better. It did not separate like the cream one did. The cream one developed a solid substance that I had to strain out.. Both tasted very much the same. If you use it right away probably not an issue. But if you plan on sav...

And after switching to all electric I eleminated the gas burner under the boiler which made just enough room for the rig under my 8 foot ceiling. Filled the column with 2 lts. Yup, It did loose about 15 points ABV but the end product was outstanding. It was Jimbos Half Barrel Bourbon on toasted oak chips and charred oak sticks. Taste tested and was rated as better than the Makers Mark Special Reserve cask strength we compared it to.

The volume and the ABV did go down some.I figure this is the angels due share and replicates what you would. loose when using a barrel. In a quart jar after a week it lost a couple of ozs or 10 ml or so.

Then freezing once a week. With a hand full of toasted oak chips and 5 or 6 charred oak barrel stave sticks per half gallon . After a month of this it has a dark tea color, smells nice a...

I'm brewing a beer in my garage as we speak, and it's 60 f , the recommended fermentation temp. I've got it sitting on a heating pad (a dog bed warmer) in case it gets below 60 I'll turn it on.

Hey Rev, What your doing is the UJSSM method. A great way to reuse all that grain and yeast. And it gets better with each generation ! It's not uncommon for brewers to go up to 10 gen this way.

Re: Question about small voulme of wash in boiler

Looks like the best thing for me to do is revert to my roots and break out the old stock pot boiler, it's only 3 gallons. I can go back to flour dough to seal it when doing experimental recipes. I just go spoiled be using the 15.5 gal keg with tri-clamp and gasket, so much easier.
