I run a 1.5" column on a CM. See the link in my signature. Runs great!

Re: No drip when using cooling coil in column
You have to use a needle valve to regulate your cooling water in a CM. Without one you'll never get the flow to what is needed. Small increment adjustment is what you are looking for.

I know exactly what you mean, I had that problem on an earlier version using thicker pipe. I switched to 1/4 pipe and found with the aquarium pump it “pushes” the air out of the coils because the system is air tight with only one exit. Originally I was experimenting with other diameter pipe and I d...

A couple faves.
The one on the right is a $1 glass I got at the Dollar Store.
The one on the left (and I shizz you not) is one of a six pack that came from Costco with tiramisu innit.

It's based on the pump I imagine. The thing is how high a head it will pump. I needed one that would go 7' due to my column.
I got mine at Home Depot.

Re: Cooling Water Disposal Question
I found an almost brand new personal swamp cooler on the top of a dumpster.
Took it home, swapped out the stock pump and plumbed in a fountain pump that will pump a seven foot head. (~$40 at any hardware store.)
A four hour run uses three gallons of evaporative cooling.

If you simply want to practice, go to Costco, get a bunch of apple juice, throw some yeast innit and wait. Once it's done fermenting, let it clear, rack into the boiler and let it rip. Once that's done, bottle in a one gallon glass jug with a couple sticks of toasted oak and forget it for six months...

Hey, all! Been a while since I posted hobby-wise but I've got an issue I'd like y'all's opinion on. Four years ago (and then some) I made a 10 gallon rum wash out of mexican piloncillo, Grandma's molasses from the store and some basic Costco yeast. You heard me right...over FIVE years ago with a hou...

Whackin' on steel plates with anything that goes bang is the very definition of fun!
I have a .75 caliber cannon we've been trying to hit a 16"x20" plate with at 135 yards lately.
We've gotten within 24" so far.
