Re: Alembic still question
I got the cadco KR1. I run it with a 110V temp. controller. 1ts 1500 W and been going now for over 4 yr. Mainly under my mash pot. I got older wiring in my garage and cant go much beyond that. Although i did run a 240V line out there for my 5500W element in my milk can boiler.

I let my red wheat mash sit overnight to cool. This morning it had a krousen. Some wild yeast appaently started it going. I went ahead and pitched my us05 anyways. Anyone tell me what to expect? It smells OK.

Pintoshine (artesan resources) is out of the enzyme business. Where do you go now. Too bad. costs of selling got to him.

Hi all I have been making whiskey for awhile and my 1st venture into rum. I have my 1st ferment going well and the question I have is. After my 1st stripping run and I collect my 1st dunder, do I add it straight to the fermenter hot, on top of the previous yeast etc. and use new yeast or do I add it...

No point adding additional heat to the coolant water... That's my point Fivey. Would removing the pond pump make a noticeable difference

Pump placement for cooling system
I circulate cold water from a 5 gal. bucket placed inside a large wine cooler. It circulates cold water into my fermenter controlled by an inkbird hooked to a pond pump. Would it be better to have a pump located outside the 5 gal. bucket. I wonder how much heat the pump itself transfers to the water...

Re: thermometer recomendation
I am working on a bluetooth thermometer probe with an app. You dial in your cut points, and it tells you when they are due. Compensates for air pressure differences, etc. Odin. It really sounds interesting. A nice tool to have. keep us posted. I installed a thermowell on my still head and running a ...

thermometer recomendation
My analog thermometer sits at the top of my column and is difficult to read as it sits high, small numbers and aging eyes. Any recommendations. I plan on removing the screw in thermometer and installing a thermowell if needed for something easier to read and digital. I would prefer something permane...

proof and tralle hydrometer inaccuracies
I have 3 P&T hydrometers and not one agrees with the other. there is 2 t0 4 marks off. It seems as though the paper marking inside is just put in the glass tube and where it stops is good.
Can anyone recommend a certain brand or where to get one that is accurate.

I had to post 1st tasting of this HB. I couldn't wait to see if I wanted to go forward with this recipe. Hi Otis
Great idea and I already have a hot plate, however I just popped for an Oster toaster convection oven from Wallmart. $40.00. I still night source some aluminum from our local metal salvage place a try it out.
Thanks Ron
