have not used bakers in about 4 years . im in deep south 2 big probs here temp and humidity 1 gives yeast hell and other breeds bacteria and some of the most rank wild yeast and the most persistent you can find.. from doing this a few years i found,, bakers would work but ,, i have to OD mash with b...

oranges long way away but if i have any free time i will get truck load of tangalos and do test when season. they have the lagest amount of sugar lowest acid and ez to peal pith

Optimum Ferment Temp.65-70°F for white labs,,,,, i was hopin for something in the high 80s ,, i do not ferment in house and temps are already in low 80s here.. above ground wine cellar is in works but not there yet after done 76 is perfect

lol im low on both but in past i have done also that and love it ..try to play with specialty malts from brew shop. its not cheap but it makes things interrestin on taste... i have never been a beer maker ,, mostly wine but learning taste of beer makers malts. in distiling as in beer making its most...

sulpher prob but im guessin its the grain type and water type.. between the 2 they can. but as far as boiling i would do ,, may have to airate but have had had 2 bad batches cuz malt and everything was washed with san star except grain,,, im boiling from now on,,, lot of wasted time plus about 25 bu...

just typeing potato and recipe yes a lot on hd amoste all say "waste of time or why waste time" and "its hard". its been done 100s of years and potato and wheat to me make some of the smoothest vodka. if i wanted ez i would buy a bottle or 16 pounds of sugar. im more less looking...

i know dirty its just the volume,,, 30 pounds of mashed taters per 10 gal? i plan on ag for convert maybe a pound or so of distiler malt .. im just looking for something to work from.

i live in the land of oranges making shine or wine out of oranges is a pain in ass. the acidity is the main prob. i have used calcium chloride flakes and calcium carbonate. the best results have been from tangerines and tangelos.. both way lower in acidity that reg oranges... still all a pain to get...

im probly going to catch hell but....im looking for a potato vodka recipe,,the reason is my garden went nuts on the potato end this year. have 200 pounds in racks of pine straw now and have probly another 200 coming... i never had a harvest like this and dont want to waste it. i have even gave a bun...

ty corene that is the malt and you are right on the unfementable sugars after ferment i seen .it started with a 1.053 sg ended with 1.023 so still in 8.3% range guesstamateing. cooking it this weekend so will let you know it taste a lil sweet out of fementer taste and smelles great! thinking of taki...

made this a few runns.i dont know what to call it but for now its exp#31. all flaked grains from brew shop except malt and i have never put any oak to it yet and oldest aged is 6 months. im thinking light toasted oak, but it never last. my mash bill is 35% corn 25% rye 25% wheat, the other 15% is 10...
