Re: JustinCase Boka Build Thread

If you are not averse to learning (or already know) how to solder stainless to copper that is truly the way to go, stainless ferrules on on copper pipe. The ferrules are less than $5 on Amazon. Triclamp fittings can be had at any of the still retailers online or at brewershardware.com. The more exp...

Re: JustinCase Boka Build Thread

Hey off topic help, look at my signature and check the link on using the Google search option. If you haven't used it yet it is very helpful for all the scattered info. I have used that, and it's definitely a ton better than the built-in search function. Part of what had been frustrating me so far ...

Re: Molasses

This is kind of off topic but a very interesting history sidenote I have worked in this area and on a hot summer day you can smell the molasses http://www.damninteresting.com/the-great-molasses-flood-of-1919" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow What a co...

Re: JustinCase Boka Build Thread

It just bugs me, like a lot of things on this forum, you have to read 1000 posts on something that are all over the place, and decide what the best practice is for what you are doing. If you are new it's not easy. There is a bell curve to the responses, where most people fall in the middle but ther...

Re: JustinCase Boka Build Thread

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. I have read through piks build several times, and that's definitely my main guide for what I'd like to build. The only real change I plan to make is to make the column more modular, with a coupling / break just above the connection to the keg, and a coupling ...

Re: JustinCase Boka Build Thread

As you can tell, I'm not in a huge hurry, since I still haven't ordered any copper. But it gives me time to ask .. Based on all my reading, I was considering a packed column of 36" .. then another 12" for the head / condenser and takeoff plates. Is 36" about the suggested height, or w...

Re: JustinCase Boka Build Thread

Hi All, Well, below are the pictures of the coil I made yesterday. Like i said, I felt like it turned out pretty well. Once I get a 2" cap I'll make some tweaks to the top, and solder that on (along with a pressure relief / equalization hole) .. JustinCase CondenserCoil4.jpg CondenserCoil3.jpg ...

Re: JustinCase Boka Build Thread

Thanks SS. I appreciate the thoughtful reply. You are correct, I meant a concentric rather than double wound. I completed it this evening, and I think it turned out pretty well. Once I figure out how to get these pictures off my phone, I'll post up some pictures. Based on all the reading I did, I th...

JustinCase Boka Build Thread

Hi All- I've been doing what feels like most of the new user reading. I've followed most of the threads and rabbit trails on theories, different still designs, recipies, a newbie guide to cuts and blending. I'm sure I have years with of stuff to read, but I'd like to get started on a build. After th...

Re: Another Novice

Hey All, Thanks for the welcome. I think today I'm going to see if I can find all the ingredients for ujssm and maybe get that to fermenting, while I get all my parts ordered for the column and coil. Hawgwrench - Yeah .. I agree I could probably get everything going sooner .. and I hope I will. But ...

Another Novice

Hello, Another new, soon to be distiller. I have enjoyed reading the forms (well, I did until my eyes started bleeding). I am a novice, but looking forward to getting started. My goal is to build a boka column on the small keg boiler pictured below. I'd like to have my build complete and be running ...
