If they are clear your risk of scorch is low. He meant not racked or cleared with the grain in the boiler

Chips are ok for wine but for aging distilled spirits they have too much end grain according to many. You should look into dominoes or sticks

You will want to toast them after seasoning/drying. There are plenty of threads about this.

It sure looks like it leaks a lot. Id have to imagine that flour paste could be used there but that'd be a real PITA.

Never tried the edible ones but I've had the plant based plastic ones and paper ones, the paper definitely inferior to the plant based/cellulose ones.

Galvanized metal is nogo for food as far as I've been told. Totally paint it with a heavy duty protective enamel paint id say.

The t500 boilers I've seen have a minimum fill mark. I wouldn't go under it. I melted the plastic on mine using it outside of the manufacturers guidelines. I'd love another one though, the problem with mine was me and my crazy ideas.

Say 3 to 4 feet at least, talking bare minimum . 5 or 6 sounds a lil better. build a heat shroud for your burner too. It has several benefits

If it ain't copper, stainless, boro glass, or ptfe we do not approve. Wrap it in ptfe tape if possible or look for a Teflon replacement
