Re: Everything you need to know about oak alternatives.

Ok! Let’s wake this 11 yr old subject up again! Of course, the question I’m about to raise is probably buried in the depths of this thread. I decided to just pop the Q rather than spend my lovely morning at work scouring the thread. I live in Northern Kentucky. We have oak trees growing out of our e...

Re: Condenser problems??

In the back if my mind, I am worried about over powering also. But, it seemed that some of the guys are running smaller Liebigs and not having issues. Just in case, I do have a 1500 element on hand that I’m flirting with changing out. I did a real scrubbing on the inside 1/2” Friday evening. It seem...

Re: Condenser problems??

No worries. Yes, the inlet is on the bottom. I’m feeling the same way. Tomorrow’s (while at work😉) I’m gonna modify it by coiling some small wire around the 1/2”, and re-wrap it. I’m also gonna turn the flow down a bit. I feel I was just jetting water straight through. All thanks to the good advice ...

Re: Condenser problems??

Jonny, Ok... thinking about this more. You think I can tear one end of my Liebig. coil and push a solid piece of copper wire up in and around the 1/2”? Sounds like all I’m looking for is more turbulence in the water flow. I’m gonna try my best to get this guy to work without building a whole new con...

Re: Condenser problems??

So, if I’m understanding correctly.. the water is just flowing right through Liebig too quickly to do its job correctly? What if I slowed the flow of water? I have a 1/3 hp submersible pump working as my recirc pump. I also have a 1/2” ball valve that was wide open on the inlet side. 45deg off plumb...

Re: Condenser problems??

Yep! I was corrected on the “Liebig”on my welcoming post. Thanks! I did not take an official temp on the outlet port. But, I did feel the water. It’s was still cool to the touch, as I was using recirculated ice water. The top of my condenser was cold to the touch at the same time. I will dial her dow...

Condenser problems??

Hello all. Got a question about a possible condenser issue. To put it plain, I’m seeing vapor come out of the end of it. To put everything in context, let me give a back story. I’m running a 5 gall pot still that is heated by a 2000w element. I have a 2” copper column that is 30” tall. I reduce to 1...

Hello

Hello HD board. Glad to finally be a poster and not just a browser. As I have finally got my setup together, and (most of the way) functional, I have a legit reason to post! I’m from the Bluegrass State! I’ll try not to rub it in that I am only an hour or so away from some of the most gorgeous, nost...
