Re: First all grain ferment...mold on the top...

This happens when the grain on the surface are not mixed. Be sure to soak the grains on the surface at least once a day in the future.

Re: Old wine - brandy or spirit?

I recommend creating a brandy, often an excellent brandy is made from a bad wine. If you don't like it, you dilute it and distill it again to a neutral.

Excellent guide. It would be nice to understand the reason for this problem...maybe it's a question of size.

Re: Controller fan

PC fans are typically 12v DC. You can also power them at 5 volts... it will spin more slowly but enough for your purpose, feel free to use a battery charger from an old cell phone. Connect the fan respecting the polarity (in DC it is important)... generally black wire (-) and red wire (+). Sometimes...

Looks like a Butterfly valve Demy . Think some guys have used them . I’m wondering if this Topic might better have been called Rotating Aperture VM . The idea being to move a gate over the outlet but from inside the VM head . By passing the shaft down through the RC coil or even attaching it to the...

Re: Open Source Recipe Builder/Calculator Application

I use brewfather for my beer but it's always nice to have new tools. A forum user created an app with some people's ideas and there are (few) apps like this. It would be nice to have other tools. I would say that you need a cereal section, a sugar washing section, a liquor section (I care a lot abou...

Don't throw it away..... sooner you could do a mini test mash to understand the diastatic power. People selling homebrewing supplies have no idea about distillation and are often trying to sell you something.

Re: Cloudy effect - relationship with maceration alcohol

I'm going to guess that what you were trying to say was lost in translation. Personally, I don't use Star Anise in gin or Absinthe. Probably…let's look at it another way. I want to make an essence with botanicals high in essential oils. The botanicals will be macerated in alcohol and then distilled...

Cloudy effect - relationship with maceration alcohol

I know well "the cloudy effect" which takes place in the presence of essential oil and water. I am experimenting with the maceration and the subsequent distillation of the starry anise (in the same way as one gin) to obtain an essence that will be used in a liqueur (therefore added with al...

Many ways to obtain the same result... I have a CCVM and I am very happy with it, I have inserted a simple screw lifting system and I adjust it very precisely. The valves are expensive and heavier but more precise.. pros and cons in both cases ...but let's not call it a poor system..it has helped ma...

I also think that the problem is that box.... to eye it looks like the potentiometer. You could test if by turning the knob the resistance reading is correct.
