Re: What is a bushing reducer?
A bushing changes the OD of the pipe with minimal fitting allowance, Fitting allowance is how much room or distance it uses up...A Fitting reducer is a two step fittings that "fits" in to a fitting and couples around a pipe...A copper bushing reducer can also referred to as an insert reduc...

Re: steam pot ponu build getting back on track
Well, she is near completion. All I have left is the parrot...Got some water and white vinegar cranked the steam on high and gave her the onion...That condenser took everything that I could throw at it, I had a nice 1/4 pipe full (1/2" copper discharge) steady stream of water coming out with no...

This one is for my secondary coil on my ponu still....Taking a gander here in saying that from what I come up with it's the surface cooling area that makes or breaks it for the condenser?? So more small tubes would be better than less or one big tube?? yes,no, maybe......

shot gun condenser efficiency question
Is it more efficient to run the cooling water through the tubes or around the tubes? I'm thinking around (outside) the tubes would be better as the flow of coolant would be less restricted..??

Re: my next build,, double boiler/steam
One thing on the safety relief, make sure it is rated for steam...The ones for hot water (hydronic systems or hot water makers/heaters) have a rubber disk, steam rated have both a brass disk and seat. The rubber disk cannot hold up to the temps of steam....As for the glycol in the boiler water I wou...

The torch I am using is a small oxy/ace fuel torch. Could almost be considered a jewelry torch, I picked it up at the welding shop for fixing some HVAC coils about five years ago (I have seen refrigeration guys use these as well)...It is a fantastic torch, can really control heat and where you want ...

my findings on stainless to copper soft soldering
Normally I weld my copper and stainless joints, but with a recent build there has been a couple areas where a low heat soft solder joint would just work better (due to the heat distortion welding can cause). So I ventured into new territory on this one and started doing research and experimenting. M...
