Re: Storing your product?

Dnderhead,
Sorry if I am beating a dead horse here, but I am not getting it. In your opinion the freezer in and out process will not help smooth? which is different then the distress process.

Re: Storing your product?

all thought all that was great information......It still leaves open the question of the freezer trick. Placing the product in the freezer for 12 hours then at room temp for 12 hours help smooth the likker? I would assume the jars would remain sealed or closed.

But there was no real confirmation to this. If this is the case, then wouldn't storing your p...

Aluminum pot

Re: Corn likker, or not corn likker?

So if I make a batch not using sugar......and use the 10lb method Dnderhead spoke of, using 6 row malt....I cook 8lbs of corn until soft, alow to cool to 150f add malt, let cool to around 90f pitch yeast. Transfer all to a 5 gallon fermenter add water to fill 5 gallons then airlock...sound correct?

Re: Corn likker, or not corn likker?

yeast "eat sugar"enzymes brake starch into sugars, but first the starch. eeds to be exposed.that's the cooking part.so you cook raw grain ,this exposes the starch, then use enzymes to convert the starch to sugars.then the yeast can use the sugars..all this is called "mashing"........
