Everclear 190 proof....

Postby Oxbo Rene » Fri Apr 20, 2012 12:08 pm

Came across a bottle of Everclear 190 proof the other day.
Decided to burn a little in a saucer to see just how much yellowbeard it had.
To my surprise, it had quite a bit of yellowbeard.........
Moreso than my refluxed neutral (188 proof)...
So, I'm quite happy with my stuff.
I just wonder why the 190 proof Everclear had so much yellowbeard ????
I most certainly will entertain any explanations that anyone might have to offer as to this perplexing
anomaly......
I was of the opinion that 190 proof mfg-certified-stuff would be almost pure/devoid of yellowbeard.
(The biggest problem I have is drinkin my low wines before I have a chance to do my spirit runs) LOL.........
Tx YU........
It is not the matter, nor, the space between the matter,
but rather, it is that finite point at which the two meet,
that, and only that, is what is significant...........
(Of course, I could be wrong) ..........

I'm going to say it is ran using a continuous still that doesn't remove heads and tails as good as we would like. They aren't making vodka. So they aren't looking for quality. Where all the other stuff can be cut down to 40% and they can double the output of 95%. They need to save some money somewhere. It's all about quantity. And at that proof its rot gut so the normal consumer wouldn't know the difference if it had some heads or tails in it. Not real sure what grains they use for it either? Suspect corn?

It's much better if you mix it with fruity stuff. Like Apple pie. Guy at work makes some good strawberry and rootbeer pop with it. It would be much better with mine though.

You could have added it in with a feints run?

$10 that's cheap. It's $15 to $20 here.
