Distilled Water

Post by heynonny »

Been gone a while.

Question: How pure is distilled just water with a reflux column??

I recently obtained a cooling system for my 'tig' welder, & it requires distilled water (+ coolant). Concentrated tig coolant is $30+ a gallon (+ water @ 2-1)

I figure I can put my still to use for water, huh?

Its normally cheaper to buy distilled water than to make it. Auto parts stores normally have it for not much as its used to dilute coolant for a car.

If you really want to distill water it makes no sense using a reflux column. You have nothing to reflux, no different alcohols to separate. Just use a plain old potstill.
