Feints added to strip, add in thumper or main charge.

Post by Chauncey »

What do you prefer, added to the thumper charge or the main charge. 15.5 gal kegs for both. 13 in the main, 7 in the thump. Uj style wash.

Ill be adding 2 quarts of heads and a quart of tails. Im thinking thumper is best as it comes to heat faster w higher abv and its just a strip run anyway....

I’d vote thumper but why not just add them to the low wines?

I only save them from spirit runs so i figure why add back in. Rather get a larger strip yield. It all trickles down to the final run anyway....

How much smearing do you want?

To smear in tails, put tails in the thumper, to smear in heads, put heads in the boiler.

I’ve always added mine to the thumper. Brings across the flavors of the previous distillation where the pot add doesn’t. Well, unless the prior distillation tasted like ass and that’s why it’s in the feints....

Did 2 strips last night

First strip 13 gal in main, 6.25 gal wash and .75 gal feints in thump

Second strip 13 gal in main, 8 gallons in thump all wash. Collected enuff low wines for a quick spirit (well not gonna be quick lol) before the 2nd hurricane blows thru. Dont wanna run out of sauce incase we catch an issac/gustav type shitshow. Or worse, the big k.
