Beer Brewing Process in Ireland during Medieval times

Post by Jimy Dee »

Folks
Thought beer brewers would be interested in this.

The common belief of what a "fulacht fia" was used for was to boil water for boiling meat during medieval times. Process is simple - set a fire with stones in the fire, fire heats stones up, move heated stones to the water pit, heated stones boil the water, put meat in pit with boiling water, meat boils and then it is eaten.
Two short utube vids to show the traditional "understanding" of a fulacht fia.

HOWEVER, some lad has been thinking outside the box and has shown a way medieval man used the fulacht fia for making BEER. To me it makes perfect sense, what do ye think?

Have a look at this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZ6K03ovxCM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

JBC - I will join you. I'll set the fire and you can do the malt, and we will both do the drinking? Is that a plan? Jim
