Hey Mule,

Since it sounds like yer not cookin the corn, I don't recon there's gonna be a lot of starch in the wash to convert....maybe a percent.

If you decided to cook the grain, I'm sure you'd get a lot more flavor.

You could always try some sort of simple single infusion mash method that would get you some grain conversion and most of the grain flavor ...

Something like this:

heat your 15 gallons of water up to 155 degrees. turn off heat.
dump all 14 pounds of grain in the water ... stir well n cover boiler with a sleepin bag for 30-60 mins, stir every 10 mins.
then, stir in your 10# sugar until disolved. next ladel out a bowl for breakfast :) (it always smells so good).
cool to 70 degrees n pitch the prestige WD yeast (check yer SG too).
ferment til dry (prolly 1 week)

Im gonna have to try that hooch. I dont have a lot of time these days, but im sure its worth it. I do say, the stuff cooking now, does smell excellent. And the fishtank heater in the frige, is working great. :D

got me one dem there fish tank heaters.. I am on my second ferment with it... it kept it working even when it was 7f outside.. I have it in my garage with a blanket wrapped around it and its a 30 gallon ferment

yeah, i wrapped my 15gal with a couple layers of the shinny bubble wrap insulation (got a bunch layin around) and put it inside my dead garage fridge. Plugged in the fish tank heater, and its stayin nice and toasty in there for my yeast friends. :D

turned out good. most still sitting on oak. I didnt get as much spicy rye flavor as I was thinking, but has alot more complex flavor than an all corn ujsm.

MK did you like the Presige with ag? It is what I have used since the beginning, seems to last along while, did try just bakers yeast went back to the ag!
