question about starting foreshots collection

Postby carl1078lewis » Tue Dec 08, 2009 4:56 pm

On my bok still, after equillibrating my column, when I 1st open my takeoff valve to set up for the 1 drop/sec collection of foreshots, my takeoff valve is backed up with about 20ml of liquid. When I open the valve to start adjusting it down to 1 drop/sec all this backed up stuff comes pouring out all at once until my bok's collection plate is empty. I'm doing small runs (about 13 liters each), so I need to collect not a whole lot more than this run-off as foreshots. Do these 20ml count towards my foreshots takeoff, or should this 1st bit of stuff be tossed and not totalled in with my overall foreshots collection? If this stuff doesn't count for foreshots, can it be recycled into the still or used in some other way? Thanks for any help.

I know your running small, but it is best to side with caution. 20ml isnt much to worry about when it comes to your health. I would dump that and still do full foreshot collection. maybe, try getting a better valve?

You could always consider upgrading to a VM head :D :D
