95% finished (heading out for 95/5 brazing alloy) 12v work drive mash paddle for AG.

Total cost 50 bucks. Mostly wrapped up in nuts and washers lol.
This is for a 10 gallon pot but will be scaled for 30 gallon pot ( why the copper shaft is so long)

Have you consider that copper may not be the best material for a paddle especially for AG.. the blades will bend..

Hopefully I am wrong, for you have put lots of time in the project..

Hey, you use the same motor like me:
http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... =2&t=61817

12V will be too fast perhaps and the motor will get very hot. I would consider a ventilator, if you run it really at 12V.

I think the paddels are ok. You will see. I decided for a ss chain instead.

Edit: Strange topic name. Perhaps you can edit it?
And why in the novice section? Not in mashing?

Ha!!! Yes it was your post that inspired me. I like the stainless steel mesh idea too. And yes the speed is quick, amd will taper the paddles at the ends to reduce volume since velocity at the ends is high.

Yes agree I will be brazing a stiffner on the backside or the vanes, and have used slightly thinner mash, I was running 3.25lb/gallon, and have scaled back to 2.75 and i tried a 2 step mash in so it wouldn't get so unmanageable.

The motor gets hot, definately not meant for cont duty, but for 15 bucks....i will wrap it with 1/4" copper and cool it luckily water is cheap by me and I have a couple quick connects and braided lines for various operations,,

I put,it in novice because I consider myself super novice, and don't want to stink up the big topics. I hate being reprimanded LOL...

Now I'm getting ideas for my apple chopper to serve double duty as a mash stirrer in the off season  I think my wife would say I need to quit thinking so much

Then run it intermittently
I figure stirring the hell out of it every couple minutes, is better than constantly stirring it slowly.

Completed and operating. I did reduce the angle and trimmed the diameter, and now use a two step mash in to keep 2.75lb/ gallon thin. I also installed a 1/4" steel round above my flame and a 1/4 off my pot to reduce the heat density. Loving it.

Thanks for all the advice,
