Stirring your mash

Post by tucker0104 »

I am using the 32 gallon brute trash cans to ferment in. What can I use to stir all the ingredients? I have a paint mixer but it is only about 18 inches long. Should I buy a big stir paddle or something like that?

Maybe stop in at a bass pro shop and buy a metal/plastic boat oar (so that it can be cleaned/sterilized)?

Probably wouldn't want to use your "puppy pooper scooper" . . . unless you're trying to get a real "earthy" quality to your ferment.

What are you fermenting ? I cook my AG mashes in a 30 gallon ss pot at 60# to 20 gallon and transfer that to my Brute and top up with water . Drill mounted drywall paddle mixer run in reverse handles the initial cook . Just any old board works to stir the mix in the fermenter .
If you ain't the lead dog in the team , the scenery never changes . Ga Flatwoods made my avatar and I want to thank him for that .
Don't drink water , fish fornicate in it .
