Heads...a tip.

Post by ShooterNZ »

I have found that the heads are excellent for cleaning label adhesive off glass bottles ...so I keep them for this purpose in a well labelled bottle. 'Poison'

They are superior to isopropyl and far better than the commercial citrus solutions.

Depends.
Different companies use differing glues for their labels. What works for one may not work at all for another.
Dishwashing liquid; some spray furniture polishes; heads; eucalyptus; possibly acetone, etc. can work.
Usually I soak the bottle in water first. Then try 'scraping' the label off with the back of a knife....And stainless steel dishwashing pads or the rough nylon ones....

Just don't place paper labelled bottles in the dishwasher. The paper will often come off (leaving the glue) but clog up the system badly. Scrape the paper off by hand - with or without soaking first.

Stubborn glue can be removed by smothering it with vegetable oil for an hour or two, then washing the bottle with your dishes.

All ya'll are wrong

Soak your labeled bottles in oxyclean and water. Even the tough ones come off with an overnight soak with no scrubbing.

Heads are good for crayon marks, too

Yup back in the days before kegging I used to use this method for taking the labels of bottles it works great.

I keg, and now use the oxyclean to soak in the kegs before sanitizing. Soak 15 minutes, flip over 15 minutes, rinse, fill with sanitizer, empty by forcing co2 in. Simple prep from sticky, yeasty keg to ready to fill

I usually leave a jar of them open on top of the fermenter, they love to catch and eat fruit flies.

I keep them in an old moccona jar with poison written on it. Doesn't work for most labels, we soak the bottles in 6 tbsp of baking soda in a water bucket for half an hour, and anything that still won't party after that will wipe straight off with paint thinners. Totally agree tho, anything iso does heads will do better.
