Distillate comes out of the still crystal clear. Not the slightest hint of cloudiness. I proof it down with store bought distilled water and it turns slightly cloudy. Not majorly cloudy but cloudy none the less. Don't understand whats happening here. What am I doing wrong?
PS - I searched and disn't find anything on this particular problem. Used a reflux column and no puking observed.
TIA

Plenty of discussions on this topic.
You've gone too deep into the run and pulled tails which are not water soluble. When you proof down they come out of solution, making the liquid cloudy.
Suggest doing some more research into cuts.

Yup, ya got too far into the tails. But hey, if it tastes good to you, then ya did okay.
🎱 The struggle is real and this rabbit hole just got interesting.
Per a conversation I had with Mr. Jay Gibbs regarding white oak barrel staves: “…you gotta get it burning good.”
