TriClover to 2" npt question

Postby Big Stogie » Fri Mar 23, 2012 9:28 am

I bought an adaptor from St Pats to attach my column and it has a piece of perforated screen welded into it. Should I cut this out? I thought this was supposed to be open?
thanks,

Which one did you buy? There shouldn't be a screen in them, the ones I buy from them of other sizes don't have the screen/filter. I would try calling them.

@ Big Stogie,

Could you post a clear picture of this adaptor?

It is just a piece of flat stainless stock with small holes punched in it like a strainer. It is tig tacked in three places I will take a pic when I go back to my shop tomorrow. I will cut it out thanks for the response, I was pretty sure it should not be there.

That's actually an interesting find... could be really useful for retaining packing in a column still. Can't say it would do you a lot of good on your pot though.
If you have both ya might want to leave it in as long as there are plenty of holes and you don't think it would restrict flow too much?

How big is the screen? If its big enough it shouldn't really make much difference.

That looks pretty restrictive. I don't see it doing you much good in there. For a pot still it might be fine though, if you don't want to remove it.

Those would make great perforated plates if someone used their imagination...

Or a good starting point for a gin basket.
