brewhaus pro series 2 for brandy

Post by blm »

Would a 15 gal brewhaus pro series 2 reflux with copper packing ( http://www.brewhaus.com/Essential-Extra ... Still.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow ) keep the flavor of the fruits to make brandy or should I use it as a pot still and if I use it as a pot still do I need to run it through more than once to get a higher proof?

using it fully packed in reflux mode will strip most of the flavors out

Run it in pot mode for sure. Unhook the through tubes, leave a roll of copper mesh in the bottom of your column. Run it once slow or you could do a 1.5 run by stripping half your wash and rerun it with the remainder in a spirit run.

I just ran a peach brandy through my brewhaus rig, same as yours. It worked perfect and tastes amazing. I run as pot still with the column extension and with 2 sections of copper packing. I have been told it's similar to 1.5 distillations, just a bit of reflux. I wouldn't do a second distillation, you will risk losing some of the flavor. Mmm can't wait to get home and open a jar :D
Anything is possible, just takes a massive influx of time and cash.
