Just found these cool PTFE tri-clamp gaskets. I'm sure they're costly.

This would make a great botanical basket, or even provide a method of holding your packing in place on a reflux column. If you had a 4-5" riser with ferrules on both ends, you could create easy-change packing.

Re: Tri-Clover gaskets with built-in screens
Yup, those are cool. There's also what's called Triclamp Orifice Plates which can be modified to serve a similar purpose.
Still Dragon makes their own gaskets that when clamped they swell just a bit to seal to a round plate. Somewhat similar to an orifice plate. Triclamp stuff is awesome!

Re: Tri-Clover gaskets with built-in screens
The problem with fine screens for holding packing, is that it is easy to flood the column due to the high resistance of the screen to the down flow of the reflux. Been there, done that.
BTW, Texas Process Technology is associated with RubberFab. I buy a fair amount from them. http://texasprocesstechnologies.com/store/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow Disclaimer, I'm not associated with them, but like their products. They are where I buy spools and PTFE gaskets. YMMV
