OK So on to flavouring.
I have here.
- Molasis
- Barley grain
- Copra Meal (Produced from coconut, smells like Milo & Coconut mixed).
- I intend to get some Oak Chips also.
Now am I on the right track here?
If I add any of these items to a wash and then keep the pot still going at the end of the run past say 10% alcohol output what I get out will be the concentrated aspects of what's put in the wash taste and scent wise?'
I can then use this to flavour the pure spirits from the reflux still?
How do I go though with this technique as far as nasties being in the tails?
Oak chips I just soak in the bottle of spirits for about two weeks and then decant?

Copra in the wash may give it a slight coconut flavor , what I do is make my rum as per and then boil the coconut in water . You will need to let it cool to clarify it as there is a lot of fat in it . I then re boil it and strain it through a towel , this is the water I dilute the rum spirit with , turns out quite nice
