Shotgun Dephlag

Post by Kentucky shinner »

Ok I am also working on a shotgun Dephlagmator. I left the tubes extended out of the bottom side so the condesate will drip directly down to the top plate. the top I made even so it will hopefully drain will when cleaning. I have not installed the water inlet for a leak test yet. I used all hard solder so when I mount it my joints wont fall apart.
Do you think this will work well enough for a plated column. Note the work is pretty rough yet. I have not done much clean up on it yet. The tubes I installed are .5 inch.

Are you going to offset the coolant input to promote swirling, or is the shotgun design efficient enough with a strait forward in and out?

I've had a LOT of practice at having no style.

I think I'm gonna install a 90 on the end of the water input to one side to get some swirling effect. I don't really think it is necessary but I'm gonna do it anyway.

I think it may be overkill. I think four 1in tubes would have done the job.

I've built a few shotguns and I've run one on a vm. That thing will give you full reflux and then some.

Agreed. Hell the regular/more common design gits it done already.

However,,,if it don't cost no extra,,,,,and the work to offset the input and output nipples is the same..........If the caloric expendature is the same then build the superior tool.IMO.

This is the Hot Rod version. More heat input more reflux. I want this baby to handle all the heat I can put to it. This baby is gonna be a " Rain Maker"

Seriously, I think that thing will handle all you can throw. If not, some small wads of scrubber in those tubes would work wonders. Not to tight ofcourse. Nice work KS. I know there is a pile of solder on the floor that you aint showin us. Yer secret is safe with me.
I have made up my mind. Once The little one gets a wee bit older and I recover some of my lost time, Im building a flute. I got a plumber buddy that has been scoring me some large copper pipe pieces from remodel jobs hes been doin. Just have to wait for the time to act. 8) This winter..... Wishful thinking...... :?
