How you gonna connect it to the boiler, 4" x 2" reducer springs to mind...

Be nice to see a glass ponu still... :D

I'm wondering what's the price of that pyrex tube?

If I ever built a small still again I would like one like that for demonstration purpose for university classes.

I would make it a flute with bubble plates, you would be able to see all the process.

Is that boro-silicate glass or just normal stuff. I know you can get glass dairy hose, but you can also get boro-silicate laboratory drain hose that comes with attached glass flanges for a tri clamp. if that glass is cut square, are you thinking compression joint with a PTFE gasket? Like an oversized boiler level indicator tube from a steam boiler.

Building and stilling.
Will this be your steamchamber?? A glasscoil inside will be the thing

Can you give a hint what the plans are? How is it gonna be "coil-less"? thats a main part of a ponu I think.

Last time I priced out something like that was 300 without any fittings. I priced lab quality pyrex too. You thinking what Im thinking? 3.5 inch copper inside of a 4 inch tube. You might have to put a spacer in it maybe make a few "saturn" like balls? Or are you going to cut them in half and use them for centering pieces?

so far i have two speres in the condenser chamber. One for the inlet lower coil (spere) chamber, and one for the final (secondary) outlet product condeser....The lower steam tube...three spheres stacked with 1/4" water trap tubes in each..water drops out of the lower sphere into pot (thinking of sending to a drain via a three way valve). hard to explain, I will post a diagram as soon as i finalize...It sure is fun working on the white board.....it will be two spheres in the condenser, and three in the steam chamber, that is for sure....working on my piping scematic and sizing...keep ya posted..

hmmmm, i didn't really think of multiple spheres. I am interested in how you are going to make that work. It is kinda confusing right now. But damn I am excited to see what you make!! :)

Well, some more progress, got the heart of the ponu done. The diversion chamber where two things happen, vapor from the steam chamber goes up and the condensed vapor from the condenser falls down into the lower secondary coil....
