Hi all,
I'm using a brewhaus CM 8 gal still with a 12" liebig condenser. I want to add a copper worm after the liebig for further product condensing. I've got no welding skill or tools and i'm not going to send it back to Brewhaus to change it to a 24 or 36" liebig.
My thoughts are to use the rubber distillate output tube that came with the still and, instead of running it straight to a collection jar, run it to a copper worm in a bucket. I could make the worm just a bit less in diameter than the bucket and could easily get 5 coils in there. Throw some ice in the bucket and viola -- extended product condenser!
The other advantage would be that I could put a false bottom 8 inches from the bottom of the bucket so that the copper line exits the bucket at ~8 inches above the floor. Then i could place the collection jar under the exiting copper line and have a nice steady collection point instead of trying to balance the current output tube in a mason jar.
Is there anything wrong with having 2 different product condensers back to back like this? Would this improve the process the way a bigger liebig would?
Anybody else bothered by trying to balance that tube in a mason jar and have a solution?
Thanks
Raider
