Re: miller keg valve problem
Can you take a pic and post it? You may need a scanner wrench to unthread it?

Lol.... I feel your pain....it took me 2 hours of grinding, smashing, cutting and finally broke the crap out of it to get it out.
Then I did some research and found this thread:

You need to make a special tool.

I had a 3D scanner before retiring that I used for reverse engineering. Some people called it R&D (research and development) others called it R&D (rob and duplicate)Prairiepiss wrote: spanner stupid autocorrect. Your a mechanic MK don't you have a scanner wrench? Re: miller keg valve problem
Washashore has given you the answer. There is also video on youtube of how to remove the stem from these kegs. I've done a few of them now, and they are a pain to remove. I do prefer these once the stem is removed though.uplander wrote:here is a link to my keg http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w41 ... _00005.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
Edit: I'm giving the link to the video because it is a little hard to find.
Re: miller keg valve problem
Thanks. I'm looking for a few good (legal) kegs. The legal and cheap part is the problem. This should save a lot of grief if I find a Heinekin.

Re: miller keg valve problem
There is a safety in the stem to keep these from launching out and hitting people in the face if the keg has pressure. You will see a "S" on one of the two locking tabs. Directly inside, below it is a safety tab. Slide a very small flat head screw driver between the outside of the gasket and the stem to depress the safety. It should then come right out (after you have un screwed it of course).
Re: miller keg valve problem
what threading and size do these use? Be nice to have one if it was 2" npt

Re: miller keg valve problem
The great thing about this style of valve, is that the entire top surface of the keg flange is a flat surface that makes for a better tri-clamp seal than the ones that have two slots on the inside edge of the flange.uplander wrote:here is a link to my keg http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w41 ... _00005.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
Next time it will be a whole lot easier!

Re: miller keg valve problem
Miller kegs have the slots like the pic on the right. It is a sanke with ring and rubber coated. The " stand" part of the keg is also rubber I believe. The rubber takes a wire wheel and grinder to get off. I hammered on a keg today as I read it's threaded on HD.
Finally I shoved a long Phillips screwdriver in the ball and kept turning until it came out. The problem is corrosion or rust. In hidsight I should have fired up my map gas torch and heated it first.
No threads on a 7.75 gallon that's a fact.
