This afternoon I was standing in a retail parking lot talking to a few people after lunch.
After our conversation everyone got into their vehicles and took off.
As I was getting into my vehicle I noticed two flatbed trucks pull into the lot.
Two crews of commercial plumbers on their way into lunch. I walked over and noticed
the back of one of the trucks was loaded with 2" copper pipe apparently taken out of a remodel judging
by the color. I asked the oldest guy, guessing he was the foreman, if he'd be willing to sell a section of "that old stuff".
Without any questions he responded with 'take your pick'.
I grabbed an 8' section that looked to be in good shape and asked what he wanted for it.
The old guy looked at his crew then replied "a pitcher of beer"
I handed him a pair of Abe Lincolns and they headed inside.
8' of 2" copper for $10 bucks ...sweet.
Gotta love those good 'ol boys.
Of course they probably didn't own the company but what the hell.
Funny how you notice things like that when hooked on a particular hobby.

I've also had a lot of luck trolling for copper at local scrap yards and metal recyclers. There are lots of great deals to be had if you look around, are motivated to get something built and $ is a little tight.

That's a nice story; a fine example of "ask and you shall receive." bd.
