copper bottle washer build

Post by greenthumb »

Hi folks, thought I would share this build with ya all, I was driven to build something as a brewer as I despise washing bottles
The bottle washer is designed to fit inside my fermenter bucket and wash 12 bottles, I shall fit the pump on the underside of the washer so I can lift the whole unit including bottles from one bucket to another, with the plan of filling 3 buckets up, 1st of a water wash, 2nd sterilizer wash, 3rd water rinse.
So here are some pics :D

i prefer starsan myself- no rinse no hassle just apply and leave to drain
possibly a oxyclean soak in a bucket before hand if visible crud
Q: What do you call a scotsman thats given up drinking?

Solid concept, elegant design, skilled execution.

If those bottles are for likker: 9.6
If those bottles are for beer: 6.4
Beer is awful. :D

If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, there's been a breach in the Duck Containment Facility.

Thanks guys, it will take wine bottles and beer bottles, not tried any bigger bottles, but the wine are good for my spirits .

The sanitizer I use recommends rinsing, I can import starsan but it's expensive delivery :esad:
Just gotta clean it up and give it a boil in some vinegar, try out the pump and fingers crossed :D

Not a bad idea, don't have a steamer! That might be the next project :D

Seems like you can do a lot of bottles at once, I am usually washing 1-3 at a time so you might also device a cap that covers the outlets not in use so your not just spraying in the air. You can always adjust the water pressure when doing fewer bottles.

PS: Nicely done.

Very true, I have always got plenty of bottles that can stay Sat on it, might look at some crimped shut hose sleeves to cap off the ones not in use, that would also increase the pressure to the others wich wouldn't be a bad thing

Thanks bushman
