Collection Revolver

Post by OtisT »

Dear ex-wife. Here is proof I can change and learn new ways.

The other night I fell asleep stillin and woke to find a few jars of hearts on the floor. Man was I pissed. I got to thinkin about how bad I was, and how I need to change my ways and all. I stewed on this a few days, and I find myself now starting a stripping run.

Waiting for the pot to boil it hit me. Something I could do to change. A way to do things a new way and be a better person. I grabbed that blue porcelain baking dish I kept in the divorce, loaded it up with a few Qt jars, and placed it under my product condenser. I call it my collection revolver, for obvious similarity reasons. Anyhow, now if I fall asleep stillin I won't loose any shine on the floor.

I feel better already. Thanks for listening. :-)

You got to KEEP something from the divorce?
Neat idea. You know I have to chastise you for falling asleep... but I can't throw stones. Guilty once myself.

I'm glad you only had to suffer minor casualties on the spirits inventory..
Please be careful, friend.

I use a 16 or 18 quart stock pot myself.

I'm pretty sure that I've fell asleep a time or two, with my eyes open, while running. I treat it like driving now, keep my eyes moving.

I know. In sharing this tale I was expecting to (correctly) be given grief for the dumb move. :-)

Find something to occupy yourself while waiting for stuff to happen that will not take your attention far for the still. Falling asleep is akin to wandering off.

I use a two gallon stainless dog water pan from Wal-Mart for the same purpose. I've had more than one jar overflow because of me browsing HD. Never more than an oz or so though.

The platter and plate support ring out of a microwave makes a very nice lazy Susan.

Set a loud timer to go off in the time it took the previous jar to fill and you will never miss a jar. That said, I still have a pan to catch overflow.

For stripping I use a container that will easily collect the whole run and I float the alcometer in that.
