8 Gallon Boiler Lid Clamp Question

Post by artooks »

Hi Everyone,

I have a Mile hi 8 Gallon Boiler it has a domed lid clamp which is broken now due to a stupid mistake, now I need to buy a new boiler lid clamp to fix the lid and the boiler, I could also buy the one that I have but could not find it anywhere first of all do you know and can you give me a link where this clamp is sold ?

I am also wondering if an 8" triclover clamp will work as a boiler lid clamp ?

I would be very happy if someone could help me on these two issues, as I have been looking but could not find anything up until now.

I’ve got the same boiler. Not a fan of the lid clamp either.

I’m tempted to just cut the top off and weld on an 8 by 6 reducer then a tri clamp ferrule but it’s $125 in parts to do that route.

not sure if this helps.but have you tried looking at a place that sells dairy equipment. that's a milk jug clamp, or it sure looks like one.

Is the boiler lid beveled on the top and bottom around the edges? Measure your clamp across the channel in the c shaped part, the part where the lid edge and edge of boiler slide into and I'll measure a tri clamp. Better get an inside and outside measurement.

I was just wondering whether by only using an 8" clamp in this lid work ? without using any ferrule is there a better way to lock this lid to this boiler without the original clamp ?

Hi,

Yes I contacted them, they replied today, unfortunately the triclamp will not work with the lid, but they have spares so in this case I will get a new one, but I wish the boiler lid was also a triclamp that way life would be much easier.
