Hello, I figure I should introduce myself. I absolutely love this site. I found out I enjoyed Whiskey back in August 2010 (slow learner I guess I enjoy playing banjo and guitar, and had learned a lot of Irish and Appalachian music. After singing so much about whiskey I figured I better take another look at trying it and found I actually enjoy whiskey.
Then I got curious about how whiskey, specifically bourbon, is made and found this site had the most information, and the most straightforward information. I started out reading the parent site back in October, and by December I had bought a 4L pressure cooker at good will, and ran it through a copper coil in a 5 gallon bucket. I know that people suggest bigger setups, and I agree, but I actually made decent product if I double distilled using that. It just took a lot of work to even go through 2.5 Gallons of wash.
So now I'm running a pot still head exactly like the one in "El Cheapo Keg tapping" except my keg turned out different after it was disassembled and I ended up having to make an easy flange and use a 2 inch tri-clamp to attach it to the keg. So far I'm only running the Sweetfeed Whiskey and I'm really enjoying it. Just having a hard time aging any of it because I'm still just fermenting 2.5 Gallons at a time.
So thanks for all of those contributed to the parent site + wiki and also those who are active on this forum.
