Hello All,
Just a first post to say hello and thankyou for this resource.
I have been lurking for some time in the distilling world.
I have a 5L still spirits super reflux still that I bought about 5 years ago and have used it to make a fair amount of neutral, but got sick of the small size and many runs necessary and the off taste that my turbo yeasts were annoying me.
After coming across a cheap 25L still in the trading post... not sure of the brand but is the same size boiler as the still spirits with some sort of tallish stainless CM head on it I bought it to make the runs less time consuming as was cheaper than buying a new boiler.
Have just fired up some brews (each with a turbo maxed out the amount of sugar in each)
Came across this site in the effort to work out how to eliminate the funny turbo taste and have learnt a lot... am keen to try a ujsm and wspow as before that apart from a full whiskey or fruit brandy I was not even aware of the possibilities of what I could be brewing and the negative attitude there is to turbos (obviously I'd only spoken to people in home brew stores and that is all they know)
Am thinking of selling both my stills and making my own with a keg boiler but have no idea where to start as I don't have any metalworking experience and don't know where to go to buy things that don't cost a fortune.
Am hoping that I can use the site (have done much reading already) and ask questions when I'm stuck
So... Hi Everyone
