Hello from Alberta Canada
Heyas.
I am from Alberta Canada 42 yr old and have had distilling as a hobby in the back of my mind for a great deal of time.
When I was much younger I brewed up quite a few batches of beer and was fascinated with the idea of stilling my own spirits.
Alcohol here in Alberta is getting prohibitively expensive to purchase and I think now is as good a time as any to jump into the hobby.
Over the years I have done a lot of reading on the subject but never fully got motivated to go out and start getting the necessary parts to build a still of my own.
It seems to me that nearly every google search that I have done recently points me back to this forum and thought why not sign up here so I can ask some questions of my own to folks who have gone before me.

It's rather satisfying to whip up a recipe, watch it ferment, and then distill the hell out of it.
There's some great drinks ahead for you.
Welcome.

Welcome in, hope you enjoy the place. Happen to be close to edmonton myself, You're right about the price of booze here. It's nuts. almost 17.00 in tax on a 750ml.
Gotta wonder though, what do you get out of a bottle of Alberta Pure vodka for 18 bucks, right?

I finally quit drinking for good.

Welcome to the board Dantuss!
Lots to learn here, use the "HD Google Search" function to find all the hidden knowledge, and if you still can't get an answer you can always ask
Don't feel too bad, the same bottle of AB premium is $26 here in ON.

Welcome Dantuss, I'm close to Edmonton and a novice distiller here too. So far the welcome has been great and the readership incredibly helpful. Hope you enjoy the new hobby!
