Excited to be here!

Post by billop01 »

Really glad to find a community like this!

I'm a spirit lover and just randomly decided to jump in, bought the still below with no real plans. It arrives Monday!

Hoping this form will inspire and help.

Welcome to you!

Before you jump all in too fast, go to the new distillers reading lounge, and spend a little time going through everything there. Then in the novice section, pay extra attention to this: http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 15&t=52975

In particular, start by figuring out how to clean that still! Run it first with water, then a vinegar and water run, and finally, a sacrificial alcohol run, from which you sample none of the product. Safety and caution are better learned not the hard way in this hobby!

Thanks everyone!

I have spent the last few days going through the novice section, particularly the links posted by cranky, it is indeed absolute required background.

I have done hundreds of distillations in laboratory settings, so I’m hoping that helps me pick things up quickly, but I’m certainly not rushing into anything.

As suggested, I am planning to spend the next couple of weeks doing cleaning and non-consumption runs to get to know my equipment. Will definitely keep posted on how things go!

Welcome from a fellow Canadian from northern Ontario..

Spend the required time to research whatever it is you plan on learning, the answer are all here..

Use the "HD Google Search", when it open, just provide a space after the org/forum and type in whatever your're searching for, and click the search icon..
