Hello Everyone from East Tennessee

Post by Snipe_Hunter »

I joined this forum last April then I had to shelve my interest in distilling for a little while. I am finally getting back around to it. I am new to the hobby and excited about learning the craft. My purpose for joining is to learn from others, contribute where I can, make some friends, and have some fun.

My main focus is whiskey but it's not the only one. I have a 10 gallon copper still which includes a boiler, a thumper, and a worm. I have some other equipment and tools that we can talk about later.

I have gained some knowledge from people I've met, the internet, and a few books I have read. One book I just read again is "The Joy of Home Distilling" by Rick Morris. As of today, I have a 6 gallon batch on it's third day of fermentation. With a lot of luck and a little bit of knowledge, the end result will be whiskey. Glad to be a member of this forum and let the good times roll. Thanks for reading.

Hello, Snipe_Hunter.
I was enjoying some 6-month-old Cornflake Whiskey today (see link below).
Beware Turbo yeast. If I recall, Rick's book pushes that pretty heavy. Sorry if I'm wrong.
Some of the best drinks are made with cheap ol' bakers yeast.

Good luck and have fun! Welcome.
