Cheers from E. Tennessee

Post by TNVol »

Good evening all. Glad to have found this site. Originally a NC boy, my wife bleeds tennessee orange and now I do too I guess. Great 2nd place to call home. I recently had an interest in brewing my own beer as a hobby. One fateful day last month one of my employees told me that his uncle had passed and had a bunch of "equipment". I went to purchase the beer equipment and found that it included a Clawhammer 8 gallon still and a ton of extras. Being a bourbon fan, I couldn't pass it up. I have been studying and reading everything I could find to make quality whiskey on my own. I appreciate that you guys take the time to help each other and newbies like myself. I stilled my first run of sweet feed wash this last weekend and it was decent, but proof was lower than I liked and didn't get much. However it was smooth. Used a simple sweet feed mash. I'd love to have some pointers on where to really get started and find the fundementals to good distilling. Thanks for a great site and look forward to being part of it.
