New Member from Washington State , USA
Just stopping by to say hi, I'm excited to get to know you all and learn the ways of distilling (for educational and entertainment perposes only). Hoping one day to give back some knowledge I hope to obtain too. Thank you

Re: New Member from Washington State , USA
Welcome Mdaniels80, there's a lot going on in the distilling world and Home Distiller is the place to be.
Nobody told me there'd be math and that my head would hurt from reading all because I wanted to distill some alcohol!
But I've got some nice liquors thanks to this site. You can too.

Welcome to the site. I am relatively new here, but have used the parent site since I started learning a year ago. I also live in WA state.

Re: New Member from Washington State , USA
Thanks for the warm welcome! for my first still I am leaning to buying the brewhaus 15gal pot still , I've always been good at math providing I am using an accurate formula.
I am under the impression that 1lb grain/1 gallon water/ 2 lbs of sugar is a good starting point. Im sure since i read that on the internet that it work but probably isnt awesome lol. I have a hell of a lot to learn and this place is info overload ( Like i can't see the forest through all these damned trees) if you know what i mean... I really do have alot to learn and am not afraid to admit it and ask stupid questions lol .... well here's to learning something new and meeting new like minded ladies and gents

1. read a little bit every day
2. Start with the novice guides (I still read them every now and again)
3. Start with birdwatchers neutral from the tried and true recipes (you'll be happy you started there)
4. Read kiwi's guide to cuts
5. Don't fall into the trap of being greedy. We're here (well I am can't speak for everyone) to make a good drop of whiskey... Quality not quantity

Come on in, the water's fine. If, of course, water is you're thing. I'm sure that you know what W.C. Fields said about water.
Re: New Member from Washington State , USA
Welcome there a lot of good info and people who are willing to help you. I'm finding there quite a few of us from WA here.
