Hello from Italy

Post by fabiovin70 »

Hi, I'm a newbie who wants to learn how to distill. I already make my own beer at home but now I would like to learn this new hobby too. I bought a still from China with a 4 plate column and reflux. I'm waiting for it to arrive. I hope I did the right choice.

Welcome to HB fabinovin. Familiarity with brewing beer is definitely a head start. I also have a Chinese still (not one of the cheap stockpot ones tho). Seems to work just fine.

How nice, another Italian like me. This is a great distillation forum, many have moved on from beer. Benvenuto da parte mia!

Welcome, I love the different areas of Italy and their wine, one of my favorite places to visit is the Cinque Terre area.

Thanks everyone for the welcoming.
I'm from Modena, the city of tortellini, balsamic vinegar and lambrusco.
I think my new still will not have the possibility to remove the 4 plates column and the reflux. Is it still usable to make whiskeys and rums with good flavor intensity? Maybe if I turn off the cooling water in the reflux it will be similar to a pot still installation?
