Safe to assume it's an area that hasn't been sprayed?

This dandilion tonic has me thinking as I look out the window and see lots of yellow.
As I read wine recipes on the net they say use only the yellow pedels or it will be very bitter.

Picking flowers is one thing, but then plucking the yellow out is another project!

I started two batches of Honey Bear Bourbon with oatmeal. I'm about 30 minutes away from pitching the yeast. :D

Been making dandelion wine for years and years. That's just "received wisdom " from people who have never done the trial. Pick the heads off the stalks on a sunny day. Sod doing that "picking the yellow off" !

The product tastes fine. Just lose as much of the stalk as possible. :)

By sprayed I assume you mean herbicide. If that were the case they're wouldn't be any flowers.

Depends, but yeah. Could still be pesticide treated.

Today / tonight I stripped 3 batches, 23 gallons of sugar and grain wash for vodka  . I haven't brewed or stilled for several weeks. It was fun to get into it again.

Today I made my cuts for a batch of Honey Bear Bourbon with Oats. 13% off the top and 35% of the bottom. Time for some oak. :-)

Started a steep of bay leaves for Liquore Alloro.

Blended and sweetened a 1/2g of my version of Old Tom Gin that I distilled as an essence. This one is cloudy as usual, but I love the intensity of the flavors so there is no way I'm going to compromise and add extra neutral to clear it. I have one sample bottle that I have chill filtered and blended with neutral to clear so that visitors might get a sample that isn't cloudy, but I wouldn't do that to my own treat liquor :D

I put in a full day today. Started off stripping 12 gallons of UJ, then captured the backset for the next batch, rinsed out the boiler, then did a slow run on 2 gallons of Odin's gin that's been macerating for a couple of weeks. The gin initially came out at 180 proof, which I thought was amazing for a pot still. Probably averaged 140 or so for the run. Now to cut it and wait a few weeks. Can't wait.

Currently in the middle of cooking up 50 lbs of cracked corn for my first AG. Cooking corn sucks. I need steam! I also just realized I bought the wrong enzyme so I don't have a high temp enzyme at the moment. Very dissapointing.

I stripped 80 gallons of uj wash over the weekend and put another 80 gallons in the fermenters. Planning a spirit run this weekend, and another set of stripping runs the week after.

I didn't run enough last year so I don't have enough aging and didn't have enough drinking stock to last through winter. I don't intend to make that mistake again haha.

Today I made an impenetrable anti Speedoman barrier
FENCE 10 JUNE 17 #3 - C.jpg
Now my fortress of solitude (AKA Naked Land) is once again safe from the vision of my arch nemesis (and neighbor) The evil Speedoman.

Lol, that is a beautiful fence.

In a battle between Speedoman and Naked Land I'm not sure there will be any clear winners.
I think the fence was a great idea for all parties. Peace.

Makes me think of the quarrels between Donald Duck and his neighbour.

I started two batches of Birdwatchers of 30 ltrs each, to run on my big still. To get enough neutral to play around.

And at this moment I am stripping a corn ferment with a thumper: clear filtrate in the boiler, sediment in the thumper.

My setup is outside, so I haven't made anything lately due to the heat. Thanks to TS Cindy, I got a cool day. I had 7 gallons of UJSSM sitting around, and some feints. I ran it low and slow, and got 2.5L of some super smooth 140 proof.

I built a controller for my new rig. Pics later

Update: It's later.

Not completely finished, gotta run output wiring, ad a couple more contact blocks, and clean up.
