Interesting. How about sharing your popcorn whiskey recipe. What SG does it start at, what ABV do you end up with. Do you add sugar ect.

Re: popped corn
Last time I started with two pounds of popped corn per gallon and around 1/4 pound malted 2-row barley per gallon of water. I boiled my water turned the heat of and started adding my corn. I let the temp drop to around 150 and add my malt and then I cover my pot and hold the temp around 145 for 45 minutes. Cool the mash. My SG was 8 percent it finished at 7 percent ABV. This weekend I'm going to use two pounds of popcorn and half pound of malted 2-row barely per gallon I'll start heating my water and add my corn as I bring it up to mashing temp. I'm not going to waste time boiling water and waiting for it to cool.
Re: popped corn
I Know this thread is older than Dirt
However I’d like more about it
"poppedcorn" is anyone using this as their regular go to when making corn shine
To me is seems an easy way to cook
I did a search here and goog and there isn’t much on it
Other than posts from "cooper sweat" here on HD.Org
I believe the search would have more outcome if the famous Popcorn had a different name
Any info appreciated
Thanks

Re: popped corn
Go to? Nope. But I have done it. I did pretty much the same as listed above, but if you still gotta gelatinize then all you're really doing is trading popping for milling. And if you do big batches, do you have any idea how much volume 50 pounds of popcorn takes up? Milling is easier than popping large amounts.
