Has anyone ever tried to ferment SODA?
I happened to notice how much sugar is in Coca Cola how will that ferment? obviously let it go flat? Mountain Dew might even have more sugar than coke.

And all the artificial crap in both. Bet that will be tasty. Worth a shot I guess. Keep us posted.
Re: Has anyone ever tried to ferment SODA?
I have seen posts on using the syrup, like Coca Cola syrup for a fountain machine. It is HFCS now a days. Sugar is Sugar...I agree the other additives may stress the yeast.

Could try clarifying the syrup, like we do molasses when making rum. Might try getting coke from mexico where they use real sugar and less artificial crap.
No, officer, I wasn't distilling alcohol! It was probably that guy!

Re: Has anyone ever tried to ferment SODA?
I don't think soda will ferment.
I had a half empty bottle of coke in the wood trailer all summer long, never did start fermenting.
King Tut was probably embalmed with Coca cola and Twinkies.

Re: Has anyone ever tried to ferment SODA?
Here is a blurb from Wikipedia on the ingredients of mountain dew (watch out for that yellow dye!)
In its primary market of the United States, the ingredient composition of Mountain Dew is listed as: "carbonated water, high-fructose corn syrup (in much of the U.S.), concentrated orange juice, citric acid, natural flavors, sodium benzoate, caffeine, sodium citrate, erythorbic acid, gum arabic, calcium disodium EDTA, brominated vegetable oil, and yellow 5."[19] The ingredient makeup of Mountain Dew varies based on the country of production. For example, in Canada, the sweetener listed is "fructose/sucrose", and (until 2012), it was caffeine-free by default.[20]
In response to negative publicity around high-fructose corn syrup, PepsiCo in 2009 released a limited-run production of Mountain Dew Throwback, a variation consisting of sugar in place of high-fructose corn syrup.[21] Mountain Dew Throwback subsequently was re-released for brief periods (generally 8–12 weeks at a time), including a second wave from December 2009 to February 2010 and a third wave in the summer and fall of 2010.[22][23] A fourth 8-week production run began in March 2011, before it became a permanent addition to the Mountain Dew flavor line-up.[24]
An urban legend about Mountain Dew ingredients is that dye Yellow #5 (tartrazine) lowers sperm count.[25] Tartrazine has never been scientifically linked to any of the alleged effects in the legends; nor has any other component of the drink. On the other hand, a scientific review study showed that among children (with and without ADHD) tartrazine can increase ADHD-like symptoms (see Stevens, Kuczek, Burgess, Hurt & Arnold, 2010).[26]
A 12 oz can of Mountain Dew contains 54 mg of caffeine.[27]

Hasn't been good results from what I've read in past threads. Here is another:

Maybe to keep things clean, a mod cam merge these threads? Same idea.

There are monks, also known as Living Buddhas, who have embalmed themselves alive over a 3 year ritual mainly utilizing a horrific diet. Pretty sure a coca-cola binge would have been much easier.shadylane wrote: King Tut was probably embalmed with Coca cola and Twinkies.
